These wonderful garden beds are out in front of a modest home in Sonoma, CA. The beautiful stonework caught my eye immediately...

The beds include cozy little benches in the middle, which are soooo inviting. The paths between are covered with decomposed granite, to help suppress the weeds.

I liked these raised beds so much that they inspired me to think, "Maybe I could have a setup like that back at home in WA!" We certainly have plenty of rocks around here of just the right size...
BELOW: Here are these planter beds, as seen on Google Maps -- cool!

Coming up, I'll be posting some more sights from my month-long trip to CA including great plants and roadside attractions. Plus some dramatic "before and after" shots of the tough home-renovation job we were there working on.
Not a pleasure trip! But, having my dogs along caused me to make time daily for pleasant walks and photo-ops.
Thank goodness for dogs! It's wonderful to be home again in WA.

Those beds will last a lifetime! I love how they're functional, but they invite you to sit and stay a while. There really are some wonderful stone structures, from barns to wine caves, hidden throughout Sonoma. One of my favorite places to be.
Incredible raised beds!!
